As part of its inclusive sport programme, Hambleton District Council is giving local people the chance to try out a range of bike – including a wheelchair transporter bike, a wheelchair tandem, a tadpole tandem trike, a rear steer tandem and a handcycle
There will also be standard tandems and tricycles, recumbent tricycles and a standard bike with stabilizers to test.
The event is being made possible thanks to a Tesco’s ‘Bags for Help’ grant which is subsidising the costs of bringing the bikes to Northallerton.
Lisa Wilson, Communities Manager.
“In a year that is seeing elite cyclists coming to Hambleton to take part in both the Tour de Yorkshire and UCI World Road Championships this is a great way to experience cycling first hand,
Get Cycling CIC, a bike company from York will be on site throughout day to offer help and support so that people maximise the opportunity to try something new, whilst having fun.”
The event takes place on Friday 31 May at Northallerton Leisure Centre from 11am-3pm and costs £6 per person (parents, guardians and carers are free).
